Mutations
While mutations are commonly "birthed" by cocoons, they can also be created by mere exposure/infection by slag. However, mutations birthed from cocoons maintain a much stronger connection to the hive mind and greater potential for growth.
Extremely varied in appearance and ability, mutations are defined as non-slagic creatures who have been infected and have begun morphing but have not yet taken a final form (such as a clod or runner).
The length of time a mutation will stay in its half-morphed state varies depending on a number of factors, including the manner of infection, initial exposure to Akka fluid (the toxin that causes infection), and proximity to larger clods.
